Why do you use the medium you use?

I use the calligraphy pen for thin lines to dark lines to pop out. I like charcoal because it is dark and I love how dark the shading turns out. I like the pastels because the colors are solid and very bright to stand out.

What role does art play in your life?

It’s a way I saw what I feel through collages or just a piece that I make.

What inspires you to create your art?

I love art, all different kinds of art. Other people’s art is what inspires me to make something I like or can be proud of. Seeing something that just makes you stop and see how amazing it looks just makes me feel good.

Transformation Statement

I decided to make a piece of art about how my belief in God has transformed me to kill my addiction to alcohol. Alcohol has played a big part in my life that took time away from me I will never get back by being in prison and away from my family. I put a chain with a lock around the bottle because I have felt chained to drinking for so long. I made the key for the lock an AA symbol because AA will be the way I can stay free from alcohol. The praying hands and the rose with water in color because my life is so much brighter and full of color now that I have the will to stop drinking.
