WHAT ROLE DOES ART PLAY IN YOUR LIFE?
Art plays an everyday role in my life, whether it is reading a book, doodling, or even singing in the shower. Art has no definition, that’s what makes it so fun! I am inspired to create art to tell my story. Sometimes words are not enough to express it.
Why do you use the medium you use? Pencil is very forgiving and can really capture details of the drawing.
What role does art play in your life? Art is huge to me. It helps express and gets things out of my head and onto paper. Art is something you can always start over or re-do, it is a second life full of endless chances.
What inspires you to create? Life.

IDENTITY STATEMENT
Ultimately, I would want to be seen as I see others. I see everyone, including myself, as human. Not an accident, not a screw up and not someone judged by their past. No matter what race, sexual orientation, gender identity or religion makes you any less human. I believe instead of judging one another because they’re “different” we should educate ourselves. We are not put on this earth to judge and we all have stories. Sometimes we just need to take the time away from our own book and be willing to read someone else’s.

Transformation Statement
Transformation to me means to evolve or to grow into something better. I have transformed myself many times throughout my life. Going through adoption at a young age, becoming a young mother, and now going through the journey of prison. I am looking forward to my next stage of transformation. My hope for transformation is that one day people will be more comfortable, confident, and accepting of change. Not only in their own lives but the world.
