IDENTITY STATEMENT

As a father, I would like to be identified as a fighting father. My whole life I grew up as a first child of an abusive stepfather. Then as an adult I neglected the relationships with my children. Yet over the last year, I have worked hard to mend my relationships and fight my demons I endured throughout my teenage and adult life. I have been fighting against the demons of addiction for a long time. I also have been fighting to become a better father, brother, son and partner. The relationships I fight for at the present moment are worth more than any money, stone or precious metal to me. So I keep fighting my demons and fight hard for healthy relationships. While incarcerated, I have been going to college. I’ve been writing poetry and poems for my family. Been focusing on co-parenting with my ex and grandparents of my oldest.
