Chamber Connect: Art from the Inside at Creators Space
Join us for St. Paul Area Chamber’s monthly Chamber Connect networking series! These events are low-key networking events aimed at building and strengthening connections and supporting member organizations, businesses and venues. This event is hosted in partnership with the Workforce Innovation Board of Ramsey County.
Please join us for an afternoon of connection and learning with Antonio Espinosa, co-founder of Art from the Inside (AFTI). We’ll gather and network in the Creators Space in Lowertown St. Paul with appetizers and drinks before hearing from Antonio as he shares the story of his personal journey to create Art from the Inside. From serving as a corrections officer behind the walls of a penitentiary to being named a Bush Fellow, he is helping incarcerated artists to have a visual voice through engaging, community-centered exhibitions of their art. This is a unique opportunity to hear from Antonio, experience the art, as well as learn more about Art from the Inside.
Program:
4:00 PM: Networking, reception and viewing of the Identity 2 exhibit
5:00 PM: Welcome from progam partners
5:15 PM: Guided conversation with Antonio Espinosa & additional viewing of the Identity 2 exhibit
Art from the Inside was started by correctional officer, Antonio Espinosa, who started this project as a way to foster transformation, healing, and forgiveness after his friend and fellow correctional officer, Joseph Gomm, was killed by an inmate. Antonio envisions a correctional system where people come out of it stronger and more resilient than when they entered, supported by a community committed to their success.
Attendance is free, and donations are encouraged so that Antonio and the AFTI team can continue this important work. You may donate at the event, or via: https://www.givemn.org/organization/Art-From-The-Inside.
Parking is Free in the Block 19 Ramp, located at 145 East 7th Street.
