Antonio honored as MCA Person of the Year

It wasn’t a surprise to our team that Antonio was awarded the Corrections Person of the Year award by the Minnesota Corrections Association (MCA) in October 2020. We’ve been around him long enough to know that he’s a man with huge heart and a burning desire to do good in his community.

Antonio was surprised when he was notified he’d been selected as the recipient of this prestigious award from MCA. He called me and said, “I’ll believe it when I see it!”

Nichole Vee, a transitions coordinator, nominated Antonio for Corrections Person of the Year award after seeing him take several initiatives to create positive change inside the Stillwater correctional facility. Seeking a need to create community among officers, staff, incarcerated men, and the outside community, Antonio approached Nichole with several ideas about putting together events to celebrate the diverse, ethnic cultures of everyone in the correctional facility. He wanted to inject positivity and pride, an appreciation of diverse cultures, and remind everyone that there is still hope and happiness in a chaotic world.

Antonio is proud to have received the Minnesota Corrections Association 2020 Corrections Person of the Year award.
