Why do you use the medium you use?

Yarn is not the common medium, yet the creativity in the stitchwork is endless. Plus everything I am able to create is functional, useful. It brings me joy to see someone wear a sweater I made or cover up and keep warm with a blanket I've knitted.

What role does art play in your life?

Art is a new positive, rewarding habit. Good exercise of eye-hand coordination. My time knitting is very meditative and therapeutic, calming.

What inspires you to create?

To be able to make something someone can not only use but that brings them comfort and happiness when they use it. I'm inspired by people, friends, and family.

Transformation Statement

Transformation means to me to no longer cause or be a part of destructive behaviors. Yet to change to positive, helpful, and hope-giving habits and behaviors. I have transformed from bringing pain and sadness to people to bringing happiness, comfort, and hope. 

My hope for transformation is to live out my faith in my new positive habit of knitting sweaters, hats, scarves, mittens, and blankets for people in need. Like in the bible verse of Galatians 6:2 "Bear one another’s burdens and in this you fulfill the law of Christ.” My hope is day by day to transform my selfishness into selflessness, to consider others before myself and try to make more positive impacts on people's lives.
