Inspiration:

Personal Growth Through Fellowship in Art made me think about my personal endeavors, and being that I just graduated with my AA degree in Liberal Arts through Minneapolis Community and Technical College, I felt like creating an original beaded rug with the MCTC logo on it, representing my success in graduating with my AA degree. I am the only one out of my immediate blood that will have a college degree.

What role does art play in your life?

I create art out of love and respect for people in my life and through art programs for the community. Art is a tool to help me get through hard times and even happy times. Creativity is also an inspiration and helps my to keep working on expanding my skills.

Artist statement:

The artwork I do helps me to keep a piece of mid and is a tool to overcome hard times. I enjoy being creative as this allows me to be more open minded in life. Just like my faith as a Christian, art helps me mentally. Artwork has helped me stay out of trouble many times over, and learning to be a master beadworker. I enjoy creating meaningful pieces over producing for money. I pray that my artwork will speak to others the same way it feels for me when I make my piece of art.
