Inspiration:

Justice is radical and fearless, just as the woman whose portrait you are viewing. Angela Davis is a woman who carries such a power within her. Even if you don't know who she is, the power within her gaze is undeniable. As was the case with me, I didn't know who she was beyond the name. Only during the creative process of this piece was I compelled to find out. Art is such an incubator for knowledge. It's forced me to find out, for which I'm glad. She is a woman with many perspectives of both sides of the scales of justice.

I am grateful to know a small piece of her through this artwork and to feel the reflection of Justice I see when I see it. I hope you might find out what I have as well.

Justice statement:

Justice is the concept of balance between the moral principles of right and wrong, which belong to no one but is meant to serve everyone.

Sadly, this idea isn't always enacted in reality as easily because it is complex and who are we kidding. . . as humans our middle name is Complex.
